The Great School Lunch event brought together policymakers, sector leaders and school catering professionals to highlight the vital role of school meals in children’s education and wellbeing.

The event was sponsored by Dr Beccy Cooper MP, Emma Lewell MP and Amanda Hack MP, demonstrating growing parliamentary engagement with the future of school food provision.

In a letter to The School Food People, Cooper said: “I wanted to write to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you for organising such a wonderful event in Parliament I was so sorry to miss the incredible food I saw on display.

“My staffer Alex has said from start to finish, everything was so thoughtfully planned and beautifully executed, and he also highlighted how he felt how explementary all of the team, chefs, and school kids were throughout the full day.

“I have heard from colleagues that the time, effort, and attention to detail that went into making it so special to highlight the need for quality school meals up and down the country. It was clear how much thought and generosity you put into every aspect, and it made the occasion truly memorable for many of my friends and colleagues across the House.

“I would like to put down on record thanks to Sharon Armstrong, Erin Ward, Jennifer Brown, Holly Charnock, and Rob Chambers for their award-winning food that will ultimately change children’s lives. Finally, to Sue, James, and Nigel I know how fondly Sharon speaks of you and your dedication to this cause all year round and it was a privilege to be able to sponsor your flagship event.”
