Premier Foods launches new allergen-friendly Bisto Professional Bouillon range
The launch follows new research from Premier Foods, which reveals that three in five (61%) UK parents worry about undeclared allergens in school meals. While almost four in five (79%) say it’s important to them that school meals are allergen safe.
When asked about their child’s school meals, 36% of parents ranked overall nutrition as the most important factor ahead of taste & appeal (30%), balanced portions (20%), and variety (14%).
Compliant with 2024 salt targets and featuring no added MSG or artificial colours or preservatives, the Bisto Professional Bouillon range recipes have been designed to ensure operators are nutritionally compliant. Premier Foods says it’s bold in flavour and performs well across a wide range of school menu applications.
The new range is available in both powder and paste formats – each offering vegetable (vegan), chicken, and beef flavour variants – and are free from declarable allergens and gluten.
The powder, an entirely new offering from Premier Foods, provides exceptional value & strong yield – with just 20g required per litre of water. The paste has been reformulated to provide a richer, more premium mouthfeel, while achieving a similar yield with just 25g required per litre of water.
Louise Wagstaffe, senior culinary advisor at Premier Foods, said: “With industry-wide staffing shortages and rising labour costs, school caterers require solutions that save time and reduce complexity in the kitchen, without sacrificing on nutrition and flavour.
“Our new research points to the importance of allergen-free meals, with a significant proportion of UK parents admitting they’re worried about undeclared allergens in school food. Premier Foods is proud to offer innovative food solutions that help school caterers navigate both public expectations and regulatory change.
“Having been formulated by the very chefs it is made for, we’re excited to launch our new Bisto Professional Bouillon range into UK foodservice. With no declarable allergens and offering excellent value, it enables school chefs to keep costs low and menus inclusive, without sacrificing on flavour.”
Premier Foods’ new Bisto Professional Bouillon range has been accredited under the Craft Guild of Chefs Product Endorsement Scheme. For inspiration on how to incorporate the new Bisto Professional Bouillon range into school meals, caterers can find a range of recipes on the Premier Foods website.
